Chapter 0826: Long Tianji
byChapter 0826 Long Tianji (Dragon Sky Princess)
Xiao Yuemei stood watching, unable to be of much help. If it were making talismans, she could at least assist with the paper. But Qin Yun was working with materials now, a task only he could complete.
"Brother, you should be able to make Dao artifacts easily now, right?" Xiao Yuemei asked.
"Last time I made a Dao artifact, Sister Linglong was helping me, so it went pretty smoothly. On my own, I can still do it, but it won’t be as effortless," Qin Yun replied. "The hardest part is working with materials. My experience with Dao artifact materials is still limited, and I can’t yet produce top-grade materials."
Xiao Yuemei laughed. "Brother, you’re not even a Martial King yet! Being able to forge Dao artifacts is already amazing. Once you become a Martial King, you’ll be an outstanding Mystic Rune Master!"
"Yuemei, do you want some kind of Dao artifact? Tell me, and I’ll see if I can make it for you," Qin Yun said with a smile.
"Well... let’s talk about it later!" Xiao Yuemei playfully stuck out her tongue.
"You brat, do you think my current skills aren’t good enough? Worried I’ll mess it up?" Qin Yun said teasingly.
"Not at all!" Xiao Yuemei laughed.
Qin Yun handed over the Spider Queen from the Heavenly Lion Subduing Dragon Cauldron to Yao Fang, letting her keep the beast in check first. This also freed up the cauldron for his forging work.
The Heavenly Lion Subduing Dragon Cauldron had a spacious interior—large enough to hold an enormous dragon with room to spare.
Of course, the space inside each bead of the Nine Sun Divine Pendant was even larger.
The dimensions within the Nine Sun Divine Pendant expanded as Qin Yun’s cultivation improved, which was quite miraculous.
Qin Yun worked on the materials, refining them for Dao artifact crafting.
If he had more materials on hand, he would have attempted to forge King-grade materials—those required for King-level artifacts.
So far, no Rune King had ever appeared in the Spirit Desolate Mortal Domain.
All King-level artifacts in the Spirit Desolate Mortal Domain evolved from Dao artifacts.
The Dao artifact itself had to be of exceptional quality, crafted from King-grade materials, and most importantly, required long periods of tempering and infusion over time to evolve into a King-level artifact.
Thus, King-level artifacts were exceedingly rare.
The beast-control ring Qin Yun was forging would, at best, be a Dao artifact. He worried it might not be enough to control the Spider Queen in the future.
Two days later, Qin Yun finally finished forging the basic form of the beast-control ring.
The ring was light gold, and with the addition of special materials, it could resize to fit tightly around a beast’s body.
Next, Qin Yun began carving runes.
Ideally, Dao Runes would have been the best choice, but since he lacked them, he had to substitute with Star Runes and Moon Runes.
He wasn’t sure if the Star and Moon Runes would conflict, but he believed layering them might enhance the effect.
Drawing from his experience and that strange intuition of his, Qin Yun judged which runes could be combined without clashing to amplify the result. His intuition had always been remarkably accurate—so much so that even Jian Linglong envied it.
Many Runes Masters had to experiment repeatedly to determine the compatibility between different runes.
Some runes inherently conflicted, and no matter how well they were carved, the clash would render them ineffective or severely diminished in power.
So this requires continuous attempts before finally finalizing the design.
But Qin Yun doesn’t need to—just by looking at those mystic patterns, he can roughly tell whether they are compatible or not.
However, his intuition is still somewhat vague and can’t precisely determine the degree of compatibility. But it’s enough for him to craft successful magic treasures, at least ensuring the mystic patterns unleash powerful effects.
Following his intuition, Qin Yun carved three star patterns and two moon patterns onto the Beast-Control Ring, then added the Nine Gathering Sun Pattern to absorb Nine Sun energy, providing an energy supply for creatures.
“Not sure how effective it’ll be!” Qin Yun smeared his blood on the Beast-Control Ring.
If the ring worked, Qin Yun would be able to control the Spider Queen.
Generally, such Beast-Control Rings only work on beasts, with little effect on humans. Moreover, they risk backfiring.
Qin Yun placed the Beast-Control Ring into the third bead of the Nine Sun Spirit Pearl and handed it to Yao Fang.
Yao Fang, with her strength, had already subdued the Spider Queen long ago. Putting the ring on her now was easy as pie.
As she placed the Beast-Control Ring on the Spider Queen, Qin Yun also established a psychic link with her, allowing him to issue commands at any time and make her obey.
But he also sensed the Spider Queen’s unwillingness and defiance, as if she utterly looked down on him.
“Tch... whatever, she’s mine now anyway!” Qin Yun released the Spider Queen.
Xiao Yuemei, seeing Qin Yun’s success, was excitedly scrambled onto the Spider Queen’s back.
Yao Fang sent a mental message to Qin Yun: “The Spider Queen can grow or shrink in size. Those small spiders aren’t her children—they’re part of her body!”
Qin Yun tried it out, commanding the Spider Queen to shrink.
Soon, the several-meter-wide Spider Queen shrank to the size of a small horse.
“Little spider, where did all the small spiders you sent out go? Can you summon them back?” Qin Yun communicated with the Spider Queen through their telepathic connection.
The Spider Queen didn’t answer and even seemed agitated.
Qin Yun quickly activated the Beast-Control Ring, releasing a bit of power to inflict a sliver of searing soul pain on her.
The Spider Queen’s body was human-shaped, with eight legs resembling elongated dragon limbs—still quite bizarre. Since she was still in a relatively young stage, she was temporarily not poisonous yet.
“What benefits can you offer me as my master?” the Spider Queen finally replied in a raspy woman's voice.
“Even if I don’t give you anything, what can you do about it?” Qin Yun snorted.
“If I follow you only to be enslaved without any benefits, life would be meaningless. I’d rather die!” the Spider Queen retorted.
“Fine, what kind of benefits do you want?” Qin Yun pondered and asked.
Xiao Yuemei watched from the side, finding it all very amusing.
“I want to grow stronger! If you want me to do things for you, you must give me sufficient benefits!” the Spider Queen said. “To grow stronger, I need to absorb energy—preferably by consuming all kinds of energy-rich treasures!”
“Were all these purple spirit crystals in this big box drained by you?” Qin Yun asked, eyeing the crystals.
“I absorbed their energy! But it’s barely a snack!” the Spider Queen replied.
Qin Yun mentally recoiled—it seemed the Spider Queen was a bottomless stomach.
Xiao Yuemei asked, “Those small spiders you sent out ate a lot of spirit pills and organs… Did you absorb all that energy?”
"No, I can't directly absorb Dao Dan! I can only absorb the energy from human blood. The Dao Dan are still stored inside the little spiders!" the Spider Queen continued, "If I could absorb the energy from Dao Dan, I wouldn’t have been so weak and caught by you!"
Qin Yun chuckled. "Looks like you’ve been starving for a long time!"
Earlier, it must have been this Spider Queen who was making the big box go "thump thump."
"Exactly. Right now, I need to get some energy. Otherwise, I’d rather die than do anything for you!" The Spider Queen’s voice was inherently raspy.
"Do you eat dragon meat?" Qin Yun asked. He had previously captured a golden dragon, which Yao Fang had killed, extracting its dragon soul and dragon core, but the body remained untouched.
"You have some?" the Spider Queen perked up.
She had seen Qin Yun release some incredibly potent dragon blood before, which had terrified her.
Qin Yun had Yao Fang produce a large piece of dragon meat, weighing well over a thousand pounds.
The dragon meat was golden in color. As soon as the Spider Queen saw it, she lunged at it and began devouring it.
"When the little spiders you sent out return, give me all the Dao Dan!" Qin Yun said. "If you handle my business properly, I’ll regularly keep you supplied with dragon meat in the future!"
The Poison Dragon Spider had great potential. When strong, it could release powerful toxins and move extremely fast.
"Qin Yun, if the Poison Dragon Spider becomes strong enough, the webs she spins will be formidable. You can even carve strange patterns on them to set up powerful arrays!" Yao Fang said.
Hearing this, Qin Yun was delighted.
"I’ve had those little spiders shadow that group. For now, they haven’t attacked—just followed them, biding their time to attack!" the Spider Queen said.
"Good. From now on, you’ll be called ‘Little Spider’!" Qin Yun said.
"No! I refuse that name!" the Spider Queen immediately rejected, her voice tinged with anger.
"Like ‘Piggy’ the fat pig? I wouldn’t like it either if it were me!" Xiao Yuemei snickered.
"Yuemei, you give her a name!" Qin Yun said.
"She’s a spider that runs on webs, so let’s call her ‘Webworm’!" Xiao Yuemei thought seriously before adding, "Or ‘Web Pig’? ‘Web Dragon’? Let’s go with ‘Web Dragon’—it’s a cool name!"
"Web your face!" Qin Yun pinched Xiao Yuemei’s cheek.
"I’ll name myself!" the Spider Queen snapped after hearing those suggestions. "While I may be a Poison Dragon Spider, I have a lot of dragon blood in me. My surname is Long—call me Long Tianji!"
"'Heavenly Chicken'? A chicken that flies in the sky?" Xiao Yuemei teased.
"Shut up!" the Spider Queen shrieked.
Qin Yun quickly mediated. "Alright, alright, Long Tianji it is!"
Xiao Yuemei made a face at Long Tianji. "I still think ‘Little Spider’ sounds better. I’ll just call you ‘Little Spider’ from now on!"
"I am Long Tianji!"
"Little Spider!"
Qin Yun tugged at Xiao Yuemei, worried the Poison Dragon Spider might be so furious she’d commit suicide.
Xiao Yuemei stopped provoking Long Tianji.
"Queen Long Tianji, you should be able to spin silk, right? Spiders usually spin silk from their butts—where’s yours?" Xiao Yuemei asked curiously.
"I haven’t fully evolved yet, so I don’t have a butt for now!" Long Tianji growled. "If I could spin silk, I’d have already tied you all up! Especially you, little brat—I’d seal your mouth shut!"
"Oh my, you don’t have a butt!" Xiao Yuemei couldn't stop laughing.
"Once I take human form, my silk will come from my palms, not my butt!" Long Tianji shot back.
"Tianji, hurry up and eat your dragon meat. I need to track that group! They’re from the Long family and are probably heading to their secret base!" Qin Yun urged. "You’ll lead us to them!"
